The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach Team paid a special visit to Millbury’s and Sutton’s senior centers July 9 to drop off special care packages. The care packages, courtesy of Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Association and community sponsors, contained personal protection supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer to help seniors stay safe when they have to venture out in public during COVID-19. In addition to the senior centers, the sheriff’s department also distributed the special kits to all 60 senior centers throughout Worcester County. The program is part of Sheriff Evangelidis’ mission to give back to local communities.
“There are many seniors who do not have access to these personal protection items,” said Sutton Senior Center Director Michelle Edelstein. “These kits will surely come in handy for them. We appreciate the sheriff’s department always thinking of us throughout the year and especially during this time.”
The personal protection kits from the sheriff’s office were also made possible thanks to generous donations from community sponsors: Care-One at Millbury, One Worcester Homes, The Overlook and Christopher Heights.
